Understanding Housing Inequity in Connecticut
Danielle Chapman and Marissa Dionne Mead, co-founders of Spring Forward: A Taskforce for Housing Equity, will present on historical policies and current practices that have created racial and economic inequality in towns across Connecticut, including Hamden. They will also offer suggestions for how Hamden can increase housing choice and dispel some of the myths that lead communities to reject affordable and multi-family housing.
Spring Forward is focused on increasing housing equity, and looks to support state-wide desegregation initiatives, while also targeting local issues, beginning in Spring Glen, a neighborhood with an exclusionary reputation but which presents unique opportunities for a more equitable future.
