Artist Talk Back and Demo with exhibiting artist Jane Weiner In-Person
Our exhibiting artist will share her artist origin story, answer questions about her work, and demonstrate how to do fluid acrylic pouring.
From the artist:
I started making jewelry when I was 7 and did that for many years. I've always been mesmerized by stones but not necessarily the expensive gemstones like diamonds. Jaspers, agates, opals - all seemed to have stories and pictures within them, and I was hooked. When the jewelry market became saturated, I started pursuing my fascination with mosaic work, specifically with broken china plates. To me it was like making jewelry within a picture frame. I was accepted into the Guilford Summer Expo in 2023 and I was the only mosaic artist there, which was pretty cool. Because mosaic work is very heavy to transport to art fairs, I began looking for another art form to pursue and came across videos for fluid art acrylic pouring. I love the mystery of it - it's always a surprise as to what gets created. No matter what idea you start with in your head, it always comes out differently than your idea, so you have to just accept the process - a good lesson for life! I expect I'll gravitate towards some other art form in the future, to keep life fresh!
