Currently, just over 5,700 students are enrolled in Hamden Public Schools. The school system is made up of eight elementary schools for students in grades Kindergarten through grade 6, one middle school for grades 7 and 8 students, and one high school for students in grades 9 through 12.  Hamden Public Schools also has an early learning program and an alternative high school, as well as a transition academy for 18-22-year-old special needs students.

For those learners no longer in school, Hamden has a robust adult education program.

Note from Mr. Highsmith:

As your Superintendent, my goal is to ensure all students receive quality educational experiences throughout their time in school, and it is my hope that these experiences will help them to be happy and successful in the future. We have a skillful and caring group of faculty, administrators, and other staff in Hamden, all committed to providing the best for our students and their families.

I look forward to our work together in making Hamden Public Schools an outstanding school district by any measure.
