A Christmas Carol: A One-Man Performance starring Kenneth Noll In-Person
Charles Dickens (1812-1870) created some of literature's best known fictional characters. His most popular work, A Christmas Carol, was published in 1843. Ebenezer Scrooge, an elderly miser, is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. At the end of the story, Scrooge is transformed and becomes a kind, generous, and gentle man.
Charles Dickens was not only a literary genius, but also a professional actor. In 1853 he began his popular public readings of A Christmas Carol. When he ended his performances in 1870, he had read it 127 times. Kenneth Noll will re-enact Charles Dickens captivating and animated reading of A Christmas Carol. It is the same shortened version of the story that Dickens performed, and will include over 20 different voices.
This performance will be about 90 minutes including a 10 minute intermission. Seating is limited. Registration is recommended. This event is made possible with funding from the Friends of the Hamden Library.
