Shoreline Jazz Quintet Performance

Shoreline Jazz Quintet Performance In-Person

The Shoreline Jazz Quintet (SJQ) will be presenting a free program of the music of Thelonious Monk in Thornton Wilder Hall. Thelonious Monk (1917-1982) was a jazz pianist and composer. He was an innovator and is known for compositions such as ‘Round Midnight’, ‘Ruby My Dear’, ‘In Walked Bud’ and ‘Well You Needn’t’ which are staples of jazz repertoire. His percussive, angular piano playing was truly unique, imbued with a deep understanding of harmony and the blues. Thelonious Monk’s music has withstood the test of time and remains inspiring and contemporary. The SJQ will present their own arrangements of a selection of Monk’s compositions. This event is free and sponsored by the Friends of the Hamden Library. Registration is encouraged. Register below, or call the information desk at 203-287-2680.
