Coffee Hour brings people together to enjoy refreshments, connect socially, and engage in special conversations.  Our next Coffee Hour features a conversation with Town of Hamden Staff and Commissioners who own electric vehicles.  A variety of models will be available to see and learn about.  Vehicle owners will be able to explain how their cars work and how having an electric vehicle differs from gas-powered vehicles.  First hand experiences will be shared, in addition to official information on Federal and State tax incentives along with other relevant program information.

All-electric vehicles, also called battery electric vehicles, have a battery that is charged by plugging the vehicle in to charging equipment.  These vehicles always operate in all-electric mode and have typical driving ranges from 150 to 400 miles.  Some all-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles qualify for a $3,700 to $7,500 federal tax credit.  The Connecticut Hydrogen and Electric Automobile Purchase Rebate (CHEAPR) offers incentives of up to $7,500 for Connecticut residents who purchase or lease an eligible battery electric, plug-in hybrid electric or fuel cell electric vehicle (EV).
